Adapt Law values the privacy of its clients and prospective clients, visitors to its website www.adaptlaw.be and other people encountered during its activities (hereinafter referred to as “you”). This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) describes how and why Adapt Law processes your personal data and the rights you have regarding your data.

 

The Privacy Policy applies only to the processing of data relating to natural persons and not to data relating to legal entities.

 

When Adapt Law collects and uses your personal data, Adapt Law acts as data controller.

Identity and contact data: surname, first name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, date and place of birth, language, nationality, national registration number, copy of identity card and/or passport, marital status, professional characteristics (profession, diploma, career, employee number, etc.) and family data (surname and first name of children, parentage, marital status, etc.);

 

Payment data: bank account number and any other data needed to process payments and prevent fraud, as well as all relevant billing information;

 

Sensitive personal data of the client: Adapt Law, in the context of legal disputes, may collect and use sensitive personal data about you (including, but not limited to, information about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union activities, physical or mental health, sexual orientation/life, details of criminal offences, genetic or biometric data).

2. How and on what basis does Adapt Law use your personal data?

We process your personal data for the following purposes and on the following legal basis:

 

The processing is necessary for the performance of the contract relating to the legal services or associated services we provide, or to take steps before entering into a contract (e.g., to respond to requests to make an appointment via the dedicated form on our website).

 

Our legal obligations require us to process data, in particular to meet our accounting, tax and anti-money laundering requirements.

 

The processing is necessary for the pursuit of our legitimate interests:

  • To analyse and improve our services and communications;
  • To ensure the security of our network and information system;
  • To exercise or defend our legal rights or to comply with court orders;
  • To provide you with the latest developments, announcements and other information relating to our services, events and initiatives (including any type of information on legal news, whether in the form of a letter or newsletter).

3. Who else but Adapt Law may have access to your personal data?

  • In the course of our activities, we may share your personal data. Of course, we only do this when we deem it reasonably necessary for the performance of our services or when required by law.

  • Adapt Law does not transfer any of your personal data outside the European Union.

5. How does Adapt Law protect your personal data?

  • In all circumstances, we ensure an adequate level of technical and organisational security for your personal data, in order to protect your data from loss, destruction, public disclosure, unauthorised access or any misuse.

  • Unless a legal provision in force in Belgium does not allow it, including the GDPR, you have the following rights in connection with the use we make of your personal data :

  • the right to rectify your data;
  • the right to object to the processing of data;
  • the right to restrict processing;

7. How long does Adapt Law keep your personal data?

  • We retain your personal data for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected.
